The Power Roaster uses a roasting method referred to as "fluid bed roasting". This means that the coffee beans are roasted by hot air rather than the more common "drum roasting" method which combines both hot air and the coffee coming into contact with the heated stainless steel drum.
Fluid Bed Roasting is considered by many to be a superior method because the heat is more evenly distributed preventing scorching of the coffee which is referred to in the trade as "tipping".
The Power Roaster accomplishes this with a powerful 1,360 watt motor. There is a heating element and a fan in the compact unit. The green coffee is loaded into the chamber and the super heated air is blown into the chamber and surrounds and suspends the coffee as if it is floating in a fluid. This makes for a fast roasting time which is also preferred.
